LUNATICS ON PAROLE - Edgeunderground
Interview
Sound: Metal
Interviewed by: Evy
Vocals [Kenny the Gardener]
Drums [Thor]
Gutair [Zeke]
The band has played shows in San Diego, San Jose,
Pomona, and Orange County as well as Los Angeles.
The band has their black, blue and gray party van ready to head out in
the continuous ultimate party, the road.
What does Lunatics On Parole mean?
Kenny: Meaning? We don't need no stinkin' meaning! Ha-ha-ha! I
came up with the name when I wrote the first songs with some friends,
Kevin King, a guitar player, and Shannon Larkin, a drummer who was in
Wrathchild America at the time, later with Ugly Kid Joe and now Godsmack.
Any old fans of WCA out there? Terry Carter, one of the guitar players
was in L.O.P. for awhile and wrote some of the songs on "Life Sucks(and
I love it!), our second CD. I put together a project using the name and
it now has become a band.
Zeke: It means a bunch of crazy fuckers
playing heavy metal music
What is your favorite venue to play?
Zeke: Ozzfest-we have not done it yet.
Thor: The Glass House in Pamona because
it's outside of LA and the Fans are fucking insane.
Kenny: In LA, the Troubadour because it
always treats the bands good. Outside of LA, the Glass House, Shamrock's
in La Havre Mt and Stevie's in Tulsa Ok because they all treat the band
great and the fans are awesome. There are several others but these stick
out.
What is your least favorite venue to play?
Zeke: Billboard Music, it sucks, it's fake.
Thor: The Joint, not for the name but the
stupid fucking stage.
Kenny: The Joint, the stage sucks, way too
small.
Live shows are a great experience to really
capture the emotion and energy from a band. What is the weirdest thing
to happen during a live show?
Kenny: Played a backyard party next to a
backyard party of the S.B. Sheriff's Dept, the cannibals roasted a pig.
Another time at the Westchester Sports Bar and Grill two police came in
to search the place right after we played "Pigs On Patrol."
Zeke: A roll of fire crackers igniting at
my feet.
Thor: I puked in the middle of the song and
nobody knew it!
How has the music changed since the band began in
1997?
Thor: I think we are a bit heavier and
darker now.
Kenny: The music has gone from punk to more
metal. We have had two guitars from time to time and will from now on.
What sets "Lunatics On Parole" apart from other
bands in your area?
Kenny: We don't follow trends and play what
we want. We have gone through personnel changes which created musical
changes but through it all we remain heavy, political and fun.
Zeke: It is a variety of heavy metal
madness.
Thor: We kick fucking ass!
Describe Lunatics On Parole in one word or phrase.
Zeke: Kids on Cronic Thor-Party!
Kenny: Politically Incorrect Nonconformists
What can fans expect from L.O.P. in the future?
Zeke: A lot of excitement in pits.
Thor: New music, a lot of shows and a
kickass time.
Kenny: More shows, more touring, new bass
player, adding a second guitar player, returning to more political
lyrics like our first CD, "Welcome to the U.S.S.A." and more partying!
Should downloading be free or should downloading
be charged?
Zeke: Free.
Thor: I think it should be free, Fuck Lars.
If you have a strong fan base they will buy your shit anyway.
Kenny: There has to be a way that artists
can get paid for downloads while skipping the corporate bullshit. Like a
penny for each song downloaded going directly to the artist like
royalties.
Favorite underground band in your area?
Thor: Individual.
Zeke: Superjoint Ritual.
Kenny: Watch Me Burn, I'm also really into
a band that's from Ok-Thiq.
What is the hardest part of touring across the
country with your band mates?
Thor: The smells!
Zeke: Smelling unknown smells.
Kenny: Can somebody pull my finger?
What is the metal scene like outside of Los
Angeles?
Kenny: Outside of LA metal rules! It is
dead here, we don't even have a metal radio station in LA. The midwest
is insane, there are thousands of bands playing around there and the
fans are great!
Zeke: The greatest feeling-knowing you're
appreciated.
Thor: It fucking rules!

Kenny: Thanks for the interview. Thanks to
all the fans who support us and we will see you soon!
