Consider first the band name. Then listen
here to some of these song titles (not the least of which is the title song,
then you've got ...): "Crusty
Monkey," "Can't We All Just Get a Bong?", "Beer Run" and "They Ask Me Why I
Drink." [Your friendly neighborhood metal CD reviewer pauses for a moment so
the reader can consider.] Done considering? Or do you need more time/ You
sure? OK> Good. Now, I'm certain that at this point you realize that
Lunatics on Parole, a band I first discovered thanks to a stack of LOP
flyers at Downtown Records at Little Rock, Arkansas, do not take themselves
seriously. And that's the whole fucking point. If you want additional
evidence, just consider that the full phrase from the "Crusty Monkey" song
is this: "crusty monkey jizz face." Does anybody else need convincing? Good.
I hope not. Backing up all their silliness and blessed potheadedness, for
which I give them much love, are groove-oriented slower tempo metal crunch
and deathy but thankfully understandable vocals. After all, the lyrics are
half the fun here. Lunatics on Parole are a welcome addition to the metal
world with their celebration of the fucked-upness of life, their reveling in
silliness and their overt love of everybody's favorite green plant (no, I'm
not talking about spinach, dumbass). Also, the album title, crazy though it
may be, is also veritably brimming over with philosophical considerations.
One detects there's a brain behind this metal somewhere, too. |

Review
Seek truth and ye shall
find, LUNATICS ON PAROLE's, "RISE" to give hope back to humanity. For a
long time metal has seemed to be empty, shallow, and the "cool in" thing
to gain your rise to riches. It has had No meaningful lyrical content,
just violent, hateful, and horrible soulless dribble. I am proud to
announce that "RISE" has personally been declared the best album of the
year thus far. "RISE", contains heavy catchy riffs that raise
anticipation and anger alongside a hammering of boot stomping drums. The
music is a casing for the anti-corporation and anti-BUSHit bomb known as
the vocal inspiration's of Kenny "the gardener."
LUNATICS ON PAROLE -Behind the Beil ezine
Barikada English Summarization: LUNATICS ON PAROLE "Rise" ( Green Revolution Records )... A group's approach isn't easy to describe, and we can find here and there a real crossover, where equally in performing ways there exists Black Sabbath riff breakings, core psychology and death metal growling. In combination with a fun lyrical approach, we finally can get a better picture of the band's author's concept. Also, some elements of nihilism are clear, if we see the way of Kenny's vocals inspiration, but the band offers interesting productionally technically innovations. LOP sound isn't acceptable on first listenings, but complete materials possess compatibilities and equal valuabilities. For all followers of new options of metal genres, in this band's approach they could find enough satisfying elements.... Rating : 7,5 / 10
